Dek/Clamp™ Specs

 

The Dek/Clamp will aid in the installation of outdoor deck boards that are spaced at least 1/4" apart. The pressure applied to the pedal by the operator's foot will quickly clamp and hold the deck board in place.

Wood or composite decking materials like TREX®, Redwood and TimberTech®.

 

Material specifications

The Dek/Clamp is used to position all wood and composite materials of 1 1/4" (5 qtr) and 1 1/2" (2x) thickness, and 3 1/2" (4x) and 5 1/2" (6x) width. The Dek/Clamp can be used with materials requiring hidden or exposed fasteners.

 

Spacing specifications

Supports installation of either surface fasteners or hidden fasteners on decking boards that are spaced at least 1/4" apart.

 

Construction

Welded, powder coated steel.

 

Weight

11 lbs. Majority of the weight is balanced at the base.

 

Directions

Having established a baseline and fastening the first deck board in place, spacers of 1/4" or more in place, the second board is moved into place. The second board will be fastened tight to the spacers where correct and the tool will be positioned with the tang of the sole plate at the back edge of the first board. The draw bar is extended by toe pressure under pedal assembly. With draw bar and draw bar plate positioned at leading edge of second board, foot pressure is applied to the pedal, drawing the board tight to the spacer. The operator is now in position to place the first fastener. The knee plate near the handle on the tool allows the operator to put knee pressure on the handle to prevent boards from rolling up from joisting.

 

By positioning the tool to the side of joisting the operator is able to place all fasteners either hidden or exposed. In the instance of placing the first board next to a structure, the second board must be placed to create a space for the sole plate tang and working room for the pedal.

 

The tool weighs 11 pounds and the majority of the weight is balanced at the base. It is free standing and the handle height allows the operator to move freely without stooping. All edges are smoothed to prevent deck surface damage. However, care should be exercised that the tool is not dragged or otherwise carelessly handled, as all decking can be marred. The steel construction is virtually indestructible.
